Jacqueline A. French, M.D.

Jacqueline A. French, M.D., is a professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania. She is the associate director of the Penn Epilepsy Center and director of clinical drug trials. Dr. French trained in Neurology at Mount Sinai Hospital and Yale University. Dr. French has focused her research efforts on new antiepileptic drug development. She has written many articles, editorials and chapters and has edited two books on this subject, and is the co-director of a bi-annual symposium on trial design and its implications. She is a member of the Epilepsy Foundation's Professional Advisory Board. She has co-chaired the American Epilepsy Society Anti-Epileptic Therapeutics Task Force for the last three years. Dr. French has served on the CME Committee and Finance Committee of the AES and is on the Board of Directors. She has also served on the program committee of The American College of Clinical Pharmacology and the American Society of Experimental Neurotherapeutics. She chairs the website committee for ASENT. She has been active in creating practice parameters, serving on committees of the AAN and AES and chairing several practice parameter Task Forces. She chairs two American Epilepsy Society task forces on anti-epileptic drugs, one in creation of guidelines, and the other on implementation of multi-center trials. She has served as an ad hoc reviewer for many journals, is an editor for Epileptic Disorders, and is the Epilepsy Section Editor of Clinical Neuropharmacology. She is currently coordinating the efforts of 14 epilepsy centers to evaluate the post-marketing experience with the new anti-epileptic drugs.
