Donate Real Estate & Other Property

Donating real estate and other high-value property to the Epilepsy Foundation is a clear declaration of your commitment to help people with epilepsy. These gifts also provide you with significant tax and financial advantages.

You’ll gain a charitable income tax deduction equal to the full market value of the property, and avoid any capital gains taxes on the sale of property. Plus, the property will be removed from your estate, eliminating the costs of maintaining or selling the property, and possibly saving your heirs potentially large estate taxes.

What types of real estate and other property can be donated?

  • Residential Homes
  • Vacation Homes
  • Farms
  • Commercial Land or Buildings
  • Apartment Buildings
  • Vacant Land

Instead of an outright gift, you can choose to transfer property to a Charitable Remainder Trust, which allows you to make a significant contribution to the Foundation, while providing ongoing income for yourself or a loved one. It may also be possible to donate your home while retaining the right to live there.

Be sure to consult your financial advisor and always consider your family’s needs first. If you choose to make a gift to the Epilepsy Foundation, please know your gift will help us empower people living with epilepsy while we search for a cure.
