    "the school freak"
      by: Janna

I have had epilepsy since I was a year and a half and I'm 16 now so that's a long time to try and hide it. In the 7th grade I had a seizure in the middle of science class, after that I wasn't accepted as a normal person in school. I lost most of my friends, and scared away any chance I had of succeeding on the cheerleading squad. The bullies had now found someone to pick on. As time went on my epilepsy got worse, so they put me on 8 different types of medication. I looked like a monster. Then one day out of the blue a guy came up to me and asked me to hang out with him. He had told me he had mild epilepsy, and that he knew how it felt to be cast out as a freak. We started hanging out, but he was killed in a car wreck a year after that. But he gave me the courage to be me no matter what and even though I still have seizures and I am constantly being looked on, I know that no matter what people say I'm not a monster but I am so much more.
