Marshall A. Trawick is an exceptional young man who is open and frank about his epilepsy, which he’s had for more than four years. Just last year, his older brother was also diagnosed with epilepsy.

Marshall has been very active with his local Epilepsy Foundation affiliate, ever since he came to their attention by volunteering information about his condition to his entire class after the affiliate made a classroom presentation about epilepsy. He’s helped with teen focus groups and with the development of a teen support group in North Carolina. An honor student, he’s actively involved in various church and academic groups, and often speaks out to others about his condition.

“I’d like people to know more about epilepsy and how it affects us,” Marshall said, “so they would be less frightened of the disease and realize we’re not so different.”
