KSU Participant Rashai Stacker

At 11 years old, Rashai is the apple of her mother's eye. For the first six months of her life, Rashai's family was very involved in her childhood until she was diagnosed with epilepsy. Then, their support abruptly ended. Rashai's mother often wonders, "Why do people go out of their way to make Rashai feel less than a person because she has epilepsy?"

Since Rashai is non-verbal, her mother advocates on her behalf.

"Kids with epilepsy are kids first, their condition is second. I want my daughter to grow up in a world where her medical status does not dictate how she is treated."

The Stacker family is eager to share the message that everyone can make a difference in the lives of people with epilepsy by speaking up and making their voices heard.
