"I want people to know that epilepsy is not contagious. Also, it does not have to keep you from doing the things that you want to do.
I do have to take medicine every day so that I won't have seizures, but I play basketball and volleyball for my school and I do fun things with my friends." Meghan Frey is an epilepsy advocacy dynamo. The 12 year old, who also has diabetes, was diagnosed with epilepsy at age 6. In only six years, she has learned an impressive amount about both conditions and provides information to her peers for her school's "Everybody Counts" programs.
She answers questions from her classmates also living with chronic illnesses, candidly and routinely responding to their questions about how epilepsy and diabetes impact her life.
Meghan, who is actively involved in the local Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Cincinnati, has also participated in the Emerald Mile Walk, and has even been featured in an educational video called "Taking Control of Epilepsy."
