Foundation President Selected as 2005 Ambassador of Epilepsy Award Recipient

Landover, Md., March 3, 2005 -- The Epilepsy Foundation is pleased to announce that Eric R. Hargis, President and Chief Executive Officer, has been selected by the International Bureau for Epilepsy and the International League Against Epilepsy to receive a 2005 Ambassador for Epilepsy Award during the 26th International Epilepsy Congress in August.

The Ambassador for Epilepsy awards of IBE/ILAE are intended as recognition of outstanding achievement in the international struggle against epilepsy. Candidates, chosen by the Joint Executive Committee of IBE/ILAE every two years, must have made a commitment "above and beyond the call of duty," either voluntarily or professionally, in the field of epilepsy.

The International Bureau for Epilepsy was established in 1961 as an organization of laypersons and professionals interested in the medical and non-medical aspects of epilepsy. The IBE addresses such social problems as education, employment, insurance, driving licence restrictions and public awareness. The Bureau also works in close liaison with the International League Against Epilepsy. The ILAG is an organization of medical professionals involved in the medical and scientific issues of epilepsy.
